Tsunami REACH Invited to Sri Lanka to Address TAFREN
(Sri Lanka Taskforce for Rebuilding the Nation)
5/12/2005 Sri Lanka - Donald Stevens presented the Technology, Manufacturing & Training Program to members of TAFREN in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
While in country Mr. Stevens made a 2nd assessment to the areas south of the capital down to the Galle District. As you can see in the following photos there are still large numbers of families living in tents during the start of the Monsoon season. The temporary wooden shelters are expected to house victimized families for several years until the permanent structures are built.

Oxfam International reported to the Asian Tribune on December 19th, 2005 "that only a mere 5,000 houses will be completed by the end of the year, despite Sri Lanka still needing approximately 73,000 permanent homes."
